Introducing Dan Ryan

Dan RyanIn Good Company is pleased to announce the hiring of Dan Ryan as Music Director.

Dan comes to In Good Company well-schooled in the musical arts, holding a Master of Music degree in Conducting from The Boston Conservatory where he studied with maestri Dr. Bill Cutter and Dr. George Case. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in music education and vocal performance from Catawba College where he studied conducting with Paul E. Oakley and voice with Dr. Scott Macleod. Other conducting teachers and mentors of note include Andrew Altenbach, Dr. Beth Willer, and Brian O’Connell.

“Dan is a terrific hire for IGC.  We are honored to add his energy and experience in our company, both musically and theatrically.  Between Dan and stage director Jonathan Carpenter, we now have the personnel in place to bring more depth to our existing repertoire and consider exciting new projects,” said Jim Henderson, President of IGC.

Dan’s practical experience is extensive. Dan is an active conductor and singer in the Boston area and currently conducts the Boston City Singers’ advanced men’s choral group, “The Fellas.” Recently, he music-directed and conducted productions of Utopia Limited at MIT for MIT G&SP and the musicals The Wild Party (Lippa) and The Last Five Years at The Boston Conservatory. He currently holds professional singing posts at First Church Boston and Trinity Parish of Newton Center.

Prior to his move to Boston, Dan served on the faculty of North Iredell High School in Olin, NC, as full-time choral director. During his tenure, his choirs often earned superior rankings in choral competitions and toured regionally and nationally. Dan was nominated for teacher of the year in 2012.

In Good Company and Dan look forward to an exciting new season together. Welcome, Dan!
