About In Good Company
In 2012, a group of performers banded together to create In Good Company, a name we borrowed from a line in the much-loved traditional Irish song, The Parting Glass. From there, a unique performing organization was created with the goals of developing local stories, often under the radar, of people who made a difference in New England.
In Good Company creates and performs original musical plays that weave traditional, period, and new music into theatrical storytelling, using the power of the arts to make connections in our communities and schools.
In Good Company prides itself on being able to perform in a wide range of venues – we have performed at the Harvard Club, in houses of worship, the Kennedy Library, Faneuil Hall, the blackbox theatre at Chelsea TheatreWorks, among others. As we emerge from the pandemic, we look forward to once again bringing our shows to the communities around us.
What We Perform
In Good Company seeks out and stages stories that celebrate the hidden New England heritages that influence the present and future. We strive to use music and theater arts to entertain and inform our communities and schools. Our current repertoire includes: The Golden Door, a play written for elementary school audiences that looks at ethnic diversity and neighborhood renewal with humor and song. None but the Best, a musical that chronicles the life and national influence of Boston philanthropist Daniel Sharp Ford, publisher of Youth’s Companion, and Hail to the Chief, a rousing musical about presidential campaign songs from Washington to Kennedy. We are looking forward to presenting Reinventing the Wheel, a musical play about Waltham bike and auto innovator, Charles Herman Metz.
Support In Good Company
We at IGC are extremely grateful for any donation you may give, large or small. Your generosity makes it possible to rent rehearsal space, commission original plays, hire music and stage directors, and produce sets and costumes. During this pandemic our expenses have been reduced but so has our income from ticket sales. As we ramp up again we hope to move forward on a strong financial footing in order to produce theater we can all be proud of, so please, be as generous as you can.
