New Victorian program debuts this spring

IGC goes (steam) punk! In preparation for In Good Company’s upcoming performances of None But The Best, IGC will be presenting a special program of Victorian-era music and stories, including songs from both Hail to the Chief and None But The Best, twice this spring. First, on Sunday, April 14, IGC will make its first appearance at the New England Folk Festival (NEFFA) in Mansfield, performing at 2 pm in the Middle School Auditorium. Then, on Saturday, May 11, we will be in our home base of Waltham, performing as part of the Watch City Steampunk Festival. Specific time(s) and location have yet to be announced – stay tuned!

IGC Has Successful Run of Lawrence School Shows

IGC’s school show cast just completed a successful run of performances of The Golden Door in three separate elementary schools in Lawrence.  As part of a new initiative to bring our school show to new communities, IGC offered to do one performance for free, but the Wetherbee, Guilmette and Frost schools all expressed interest.  We had fantastic student performers in each school – not to mention great audiences as well – and we hope to return again next year. If you would like to support our free performance initiative, please consider making a donation to In Good Company. If you haven’t see The Golden Door, here is a video of our performance at Wetherbee School in November.

The first show touring to schools throughout the year and in the community is The Golden Door. Commissioned by In Good Company to address topics of immigration, this show has been performed in past years to numerous schools in the region. This year we are working again with local playwright Joyce Van Dyke to update both her original script and the music for a revitalized production. The second show touring this year is another updated favorite, None But The Best. Beloved playwright Patrick Gabridge and I have teamed up to present a musical story about historical figure Daniel Sharp Ford, and his monumental newspaper “The Youths Companion” to share a story about conflict, charity, and the impact of the press […]
